Associate, Interior Design

About the role

With a focus on Commercial and Workplace projects, you’ll collaborate with leaders from across the regional/global studios to be responsible for efficiently leading projects and teams in executing leading edge design outcomes in Asia that have a commitment to innovation and sustainability. Demonstrating commercial awareness, you will also assume financial responsibility and profitability for these projects.

Acting as a trusted advisor, you will actively engage with clients and use your knowledge of design trends and local market insights to create strategies that nurture and grow existing relationships. In addition, you will monitor and act on strategic market opportunities to develop new client relationships that assist in the procurement of project work and drive the conversion of project opportunities, including initiating and driving winning competition entries.

Within the studio, you will actively contribute to the design culture at Hassell. You will encourage creative, inquiring and intelligent design processes communicating design ideas that inspire people. Motivating and mentoring the next generation of designers, you will steward Hassell’s client focused collaborative design processes to achieve design excellence and provide leadership, direction and knowledge input for the design and delivery of projects.

About you

We are looking for a client-facing, Associate level Interior Designer to join our Shanghai studio. 

Having led and delivered a number of mid/large-scale Commercial & Workplace projects, you will have an impressive portfolio of work and an exceptional understanding of workplace strategy, current market practices and international standards.  Drawing on this depth of experience and with a commitment to effective teamwork and collaboration, you are an authentic team and project leader.

You have strong communication and client management skills with prior experience managing client and stakeholder relationships, particularly CRE clients.  In addition, you have solid business development and marketing skills with an ability and interest in winning and managing work profitably. 

You will bring to this role an international mindset - either from prior experience working in international markets or from a natural curiosity of international design.  You will be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with designers from across our regional and global studios.  

Fluency in both English and Mandarin is highly desirable.

Interior Designer

About the role

As an Interior Designer in our Shanghai studio and with a focus in the Commercial and Workplace sector, you'll work closely and collaborate with our Principals & Senior Designers across the region to undertake design, documentation & construction phase services across a range of projects in Asia.

About you

We're looking for a creative designer with a minimum of 3-5 years' relevant experience and a strong grounding in concept design, design develoment, detail documentation, drawing skills and ID package documentation.  You will possess excellent design skills using Revit with project examples and proven skill in visualising 3D interior concepts a must.  You should also have:

_Experience in large scale Commercial & Workplace, Retail and Hospitality sector projects

_Proficiency in Revit & Adobe Suite packages

_A relevant tertiary qualification in Architecture or Interior Architecture 

_Fluent in both English & Mandarin

Associate, Architecture 

About the role

As an Associate, you will work with senior leaders and team members to advance opportunities that develop and strengthen Hassell’s profile in the Mainland China market. 

Actively engaging with clients and developers, you will use your knowledge of architecture design trends and your local market insights to create strategies to grow and manage client relationships that drive the conversion of project opportunities.

Within the studio, you will actively contribute to the design culture at Hassell. Motivating and mentoring the next generation of designers, you will steward Hassell’s client focused collaborative design processes to achieve design excellence.  

About you

You are an established architect and knowledge leader with strong build experience and built portfolio delivering complex Commercial and Mixed Use precincts in China's Tier 1 cities.  Through your involvement in delivering these projects, you are highly regarded and trusted by clients in the Mainland China market.

You will have proven experience designing insight-led engagement strategies that identify opportunities for client engagement/partnerships and are able to build relationships with clients. You can lead business development pitches and are an expert at identifying intelligence-building pathways to win and lead architectural commissions.

Ideally, you will have a depth of experience and skill contending in significant competitions in China. Through these, you have earned a reputation for contributing to knowledge leadership and research across the Commercial and Mixed Use sectors - bringing together both strategic intelligence and creative design. 

The extensive focus on client relationships make fluency in English and Mandarin language essential in this role.

3D Visualiser 

About the role

You’ll be working as part of a team of dedicated 3D visualisation artists in our Shanghai studio who collaborate on projects across all of our sectors: Landscape Design, Urban Design, Architecture + Interior Design.

The role is to support our Interior Design team in production of visualisation production with a variety of different project typology, primarily: workplace, hospitality and retail projects. A high level of communication skills is important, as well as a solid understanding of interior design projects working with a variety of different programs. 

About you

We are looking for a design focused 3D visualiser that has 3-5 years of experience in the architecture/design industry and has a great design eye for exceptional 3D visualisation.  To be considered for this role, you'll need:

_Production experience using 3D Studio Max 2015-2019, VRay 3.6 and Photoshop and have a hunger for digital innovation and future thinking when it comes to 3D visutalisaitons

_Proficiency in Sketch Up, AutoCAD and REVIT

_You will need to be fluent in both English & Mandarin

_Knowledge of animations is advantageous

Business Development Manager - Retail and Hospitality

Embedded within our design teams are members of our Business Development team, who innately understand and anticipate clients’ needs. They represent the client perspective and ensure it comes into play through every stage of the design process, making sure we’re truly creating places people love.

About the role

The role of sector based Business Development Managers (BDMs) is to be a business partners to the firm, passionate about growing their sector and the voice of the client in developing strategies, plans and pursuits.  Our aspirations is to grow insights driven strategies and experience led solutions for our clients that create places that people love.

Primarily Asia focused, this role will work with the sector leaders and teams across key studios internationally to drive hospitality and retail sectors including hotels, residential and mixed use developments.

The Business Development Manager will support the development and realisation of the business plans and win targets, accountable for effective pipeline management, the intelligent pursuit of opportunities, bid strategies and persuasive pitches to convert targeted opportunities.

The role will help strengthen relationships with existing and target clients through client planning, creative client engagement and driving the development of strategic insights, thought leadership based on our knowledge and understanding of sector, clients’ business aspirations, and end user needs

We will consider applicants based in either Hong Kong, Shanghai, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Perth.

About you

Candidates should have a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a similar Business Development role within a professional services environment, with an understanding of the hotels, retail malls and mixed-use developments.  You should also have:

_An appropriate tertiary qualification

_Budget management capabilities

_CRM database software skills

_Excellent people skills (negotiation, influence and advocacy)

_Right to work in Shanghai or Hong Kong
