This project is CHACHA Bread Wuhan Future City Store, located in Wuhan Future City Shopping Park. It enjoys the convenient location of Wuchang's core business district and the natural atmosphere of park-style commerce. With a space of 180 square meters, it carries a healing scene where bread and time interweave. Designed by the Shanye Design Team and photographed by Huajuan Space Photography HaloJoy, it perfectly integrates natural and simple aesthetics with the warmth of bread, creating an immersive bread space where one can touch the years and feel the warmth.
The space takes weathered woodwork, art paint and rough stone as its core materials, embodying the core concept of "nature, time and simplicity" in wabi-sabi aesthetics. It rejects the cold sophistication of industrialization, retains the authentic texture and handcrafted traces of the materials, and makes every detail exude the warmth accumulated over time. The counter made of weathered woodwork has a delicate texture, preserving the natural wood grain and signs of years of wear. Paired with hand-scraped art painted walls, the matte finish hides irregular natural textures, presenting soft layers of light and shadow as the light changes; the use of rough stone maintains the rugged texture of raw stone—without excessive polishing, its natural textures and color variations infuse the space with a wild, natural charm. These three elements complement each other, forming a simple yet refined spatial foundation that resonates beautifully with the natural purity of bread.
The early summer sun gently falls on the wooden counter and simple walls, casting a soft glow over the space, as if time has slowed down here. In the oven, the bread ferments and matures slowly, gradually brewing and releasing the authentic aroma of grains, waiting for the unique flavor bestowed by time. A light breeze carries the sweet wheat scent throughout the entire space. The crispy crust, soft crumb, and sweet taste interweave in the mouth—each bite is a gift of nature and craftsmanship.
The entire space features no intricate decorations, adhering to the principle of "subtractive aesthetics" and using negative space to create a relaxed, breathable atmosphere—making bread the protagonist and its aroma the soul of the space. Here, light and shadow, materials, and the aroma of bread blend harmoniously, each moment resembling a slow-motion scene from an old movie. It heals the impetuosity and fatigue of urban dwellers amid the fast pace of life, bringing a sense of peace and delight. Not only does it carry the craftsmanship and warmth of bread, but it also stands as a unique check-in spot that combines aesthetics and everyday charm in the Wuhan Future City business district.
