极光岛屿公园（Aura Island Park）是我们的布里斯班事务所团队为色彩之城极光（Aura, City of Colour）设计的又一个极具个性的公园。由澳洲最大的地产开发集团之一Stockland (stockland.com.au) 在阳光海岸开发的极光新城是一个大型总体规划住区。自2015年起与 Stockland 合作后，普利斯设计集团已陆续为该地区带来了极光踏板公园、巴林加城镇广场、极光卢金公园、极光青蛙公园等多个社区公共空间，而近期完成的极光岛屿公园则为当地社区进一步增添了一个引人注目的亚热带游戏空间。

这个独特的游戏空间是一个有趣的绿洲，也是一个能让人联想到摩顿湾群岛的“失落天堂”，为孩子们带来置身于荒岛之上的想象。

This unique play space is an oasis of fun, a lost paradise reminiscent of the Moreton Bay islands, enabling children to imagine they are on a deserted island.

同时它的设计又是面向整个社区的，为所有年龄段的人都提供了活动机会，无论是操场和排球场的积极活动，还是树荫下的吊床，或能俯瞰公园的海滩小屋中的静态活动。

The park design is for the whole community and offers elements for all age groups, from active recreation in the playground or the volleyball court, to passive recreation in a hammock under the shade of a tree or beach huts overlooking the park.

这一公园设计的初衷是在它所在的大型社区中提供一个“绿洲”。对“岛屿绿洲”的想象进而被延伸到拥抱当地摩顿湾群岛的地方特征，“岛屿”主题随之得到推进，以加强在这里玩耍的孩子们的想象力。

The original intent of this park was to provide a green oasis amongst the large neighbourhood in which it sits. This feeling of being “The Island” oasis was then broadened to embrace the character of the Moreton Bay Islands. The Island theme was then pushed further to enhance and drive the imagination of the children using the park.

这其中的关键便是让孩子们联想到自己是在海滩边，或在热带山丘上的瞭望台上，或是在穿过吊桥跨越山丘之间的宽阔山谷，尽情享受嬉戏。

It was imperative that they could believe they were at the edge of the water on the beach, or up in the tropical hills in a lookout shelter, or that they were crossing a broad valleybetween the hilltops via a swinging rope bridge – and all the while enjoying their play and being active.

为了将所有这些想法结合起来，游戏场地设计采用了一系列定制和专利元素，包括秋千、爬网、绳索桥、滑梯、攀爬岩石和沙地，营造出在岛屿上可能体验到的不同环境层次。与游戏空间相邻的是为较为活跃的活动而设的游戏区，包括沙滩排球场和草坪，在这里人们可以互动、参与非正式的游戏。

To pull all these ideas together, the playground design features a mix of bespoke and proprietary elements includingrope swings, climbing nets, rope bridges, slides, rock scrambles and lots of sand surfacing, to create the different environments at different levels, that may be experienced on an island. Adjacent to the play space is the active play zone, comprising of the beach volleyball court and kick about lawn where larger groups can interact or engage in more informal play.

游戏空间中使用的多种铺装材料则为公园使用者提供了更多的触觉体验。正如当地摩顿湾的岛屿由沙子和岩石组成一样，这个公园的“岛屿”也体现了这种材料的多样性。

The use of a variety of surface materials within the play space provides a more tactile experience for park users. Just as our local islands of Moreton Bay consist of both sand and rock, so too the islands of this park reflect this variety of materials. 

形状规则的岩石以叠石墙的形式出现，以鼓励攀爬，并提供了抬高的座位和游戏区；更为分散的不规则岩石则被布置在斜坡区进行协调和平衡。环绕的沙子加强了场地的海岸氛围，同时也提供了一种与岛屿主题更相称的柔性材料。

Regularly shaped rock in the form of stacked stone walls to promote climbing and provide elevated sitting and play areas, and more scattered irregularly shaped rock, placed in sloping areas to promote coordination and balance. The sand surround reinforces the coastal environment of the parks location as well as providing a soft fall material more in tune with the island theme.

游戏空间由三个岛屿组成，全部呈U型，中间是一块平地游戏区。微地形的布局对项目的概念风格至关重要，因为这些岛屿本身具有独特风格，同时U型布局的开口面向公园的中心区域，又从安全的角度围合了游戏区，有助于将孩子们与公园旁边的道路隔开。

The play space consists of three island mounds all arranged in a U shape and a large flat play zone to the centre of this. This mound arrangement was critical in the strength of the concept, because it enclosed the play both from a safety perspective and also contained the character. The “U” opens out towards the largest part of the park and helps to keep the children off the collector road that runs beside the park.

两个“小岛”顶部的海滩小屋是我们的团队特别设计的。小屋半开放的顶部让中间的棕榈树能够有空间生长；它们也让家长和孩子们能够拥有公园的最佳视野。因为被抬高的原因，两个小屋是公园的视觉焦点，也是大多数游戏序列的起点和终点。

On top of two of the mounds are the Beach Huts. These huts, designed by Place Design Group, are semi open to the sky allowing palms to grow through the centre and allow the children and their parents the best view across the park. They are the visual centre points because of their prominence above the rest of the play and they are the start and end of most of the other play sequences.

这两座小屋由一个绳索桥连接，中间有一个出入口。小屋之间还有一条传声管道，让孩子们可以向其他人夸耀他们的探险成果。而没有小屋的土丘也由绳索连接，孩子们可以在上层活动而不必下到沙地上。

The two huts are linked by a rope bridge which has an entry / exit point mid span. The huts are also connected by Talk Tubes, allowing the children to boast about their conquests to the others. The mound that does not have a hut is also connected by a rope trapeze, allowing the children to move around at the upper level without having to go down to the sand.

在木屋和绳索通道的顶部，我们还利用高度加入了滑梯，还有攀爬用的橡胶石和攀爬绳索，打造登顶挑战。这些游戏元素与泰山绳索秋千（来自 Berliner Liana Swing）、旋转器（来自 Berliner Eddie 和 Berliner Little Big Ben）形成了很好的组合。在你玩累之后，还有一个吊床秋千可供休息。

On top of the huts and rope walks, there are slides that take advantage of the mound heights, and scrambling rubber rocks and climbing ropes, that create the challenge in getting to the top. These play elements are then complimented with a tarzan rope swing – Berliner Liana Swing, spinners – Berliner Eddie and Berliner Little Big Ben and after you have had too much play, there is a large hammock swing to rest in.

为了进一步呼应沙滩，并为年长的群体也提供合适的空间，我们还加入了沙地排球场。排球网和柱子的设计与其它的绳索和木材风格相一致，打造了一种质朴的感觉。甚至计分卡的设计也与之相配。

To compliment the sandy beach and provide for an older age group, the sand volleyball court was introduced. Theming of the posts and nets for the volleyball aligned with the rope and timber theme with the remainder, providing a rustic feel. Even the scoring cards are designed to match.

为了加强亚热带岛屿的主题，并增加自然庇荫，游戏区的种植采用了亚热带树木、棕榈和林下植物，有助于分离空间和吸热表面，从而调节温度；还结合了遮阳帆以尽可能地提供保护。树木和棕榈的品种是根据它们对当地的适应性，以及能够长久生长的习性而挑选的。

To reinforce this sub-tropical island theming and to increase natural shade, subtropical tree, palm and understory planting were integrated into the play areas which assists in breaking up the space sand heat absorbing surfaces to moderate the temperature. Shade sails are also combined to create the most protection. Tree and palm species used within the planting palette have been selected for their suitability to the local area as well as their long-term growth habit.

随着时间的推移，棉花树、摩顿湾无花果树和斑克木树的树冠和树枝会不断生长，逐渐改变那里的空间，并提供其它游戏机会。更具代表性的沿海树种，如露兜树、斑克木和棉花树，则加强了公园的地方感，呼应并突出了沿海地区和当地的岛屿环境。

Cotton Trees, Moreton Bay Figs and Coastal Banksia, over time will grow and spread their canopy and branches to transform the space over time as well as provide other play opportunities within the space. The more iconic coastal species like the Pandanus Palm, Banskias and Cotton Trees reinforce the sense of place and for the park reinforcing the coastal location and our local island environments.

总的来说，这个游戏空间取得了巨大的成功，许多家庭从公园开放的第一天起就喜欢上了它。它带来了很多的乐趣和想象力，还有一些惊险和刺激，为到访的人们都带来愉快的体验。随着软景的生长，这个游戏空间也将会变得愈加出彩。

Overall, this play space has been a great success with many families enjoying the park from the first day it opened. It provides a lot of fun and imagination, as well as a little bit of scariness and risk, all of which makes for a great day. As the soft landscape matures this play space will only get better.
