Interior Project Architect
Directs production of schematic, design development and construction documents in collaboration with Design Director and Senior Interior Designer.
Maintains awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
Understands and coordinates engineering systems relevant to projects.
Review shop drawings, material samples and CD’s for conformance with design.
Conducts and documents field observations to monitor progress of construction
Performs construction administration duties (e.g. RFI’s, RFP’s, change orders, etc.)
Prepares reports and specifications; reviews completed reports, plans, cost estimates and calculations.
Ensures tasks are completed according to the Perkins&Will standards and Project Delivery Manual as well as all relevant latest regulations and codes.
Knowledge of interior finishes, lighting and FF+E a plus.
May establish budget, task schedule and other components of the project work plan.
Directs or coordinates production of construction documents, drawings and specifications in compliance with project scope, design concept, schedule and cost.
Implements meeting objectives, facilitates meetings and provides documentation.
May participate in marketing, client and owner presentations.
Directs, organizes and mentors junior staff with responsibility oversight of their assignments.
Initiate and create detailed design concepts that are functional, fiscally appropriate, and aesthetically pleasing.
Exhibit understanding of leadership in the architectural design process and integration of standalone interior projects and design concepts.
Work closely with design director and the Design team to generate creative and unique design concepts which meet client’s functional and budget requirements.
Use graphic storytelling to advance the project delivery and scope.
To assist marketing and PR team preparing presentation packages, external publications, and award submissions.
Review work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
Lead collaborative teams in design reviews, charrettes, and pin-ups.
Willing to listen and understand client’s needs. Demonstrate Strong and effective communication skills.
Willing to Mentor junior staff.
Having knowledge of materials and products that are appropriate for the designed space.
Be accountable for effective coordination with clients, partners, and consultants throughout the entire project.
A professional degree in Interior Design, or related discipline.
10+ years of experience and China working experience is preferred.
Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software; Revit strongly preferred.
Strong design portfolio.
Familiarity with industry standards, relevant national design codes and regulations.
Ability to direct and coordinate work efforts of junior staff.
Experience in all phases and aspects of a project, ideally with experience in healthcare, education and corporate interior design.
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English or Chinese (being able to master both is a plus).
Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Good at time management and organizational skills.
Collaborative and professional work ethic.
LEED AP or within 6 months of hire.
Intermediate Interior Designer
(+5 years’ experience)
Description
Evaluate, select, and apply advanced design and technical methods, with responsibility for project assignments including programming, design development, production and coordination through construction documents.
Effectively generate and communicate creative ideas, using a compelling design vocabulary for effective space planning and design solutions.
Understand the architectural design process and integration of interior design concepts with the ability to lead and develop design element components.
Develop and produce construction documents and detail sketches; Execute red-marked revisions.
Provide programming and space planning analysis and area calculations.
Work independently and alongside team to meet project constraints of budget and schedule.
Develop, prepare, and coordinate presentation materials.
Be involved with coordinating contractors, consultants, and vendor assignments.
Collaborate with and may mentor junior staff.
Utilize your rock-star technical skills in Revit and other design application software.
Work hard, play hard, and learn a lot along the way!
Requirements
A professional degree in Interior Design, or related discipline.
Preference for Healthcare, S&T, or Workplace/Corporate Interiors.
5+ years of experience.
Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software.
Experience with REVIT is required, including drawing setup, plan development and advanced modeling.
Experience in all phases and aspects of a large-scale Interiors project.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong graphic communication skills, including advanced hand sketching/creative ideation.
Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn.
Collaborative and professional work ethic.
LEED AP or within 6 months of hire.
Description
As an intern at Perkins&Will Shanghai Studio, you will be an active member of our team, you will participate in the architectural/interior design process and contribute to the development of solutions, prepare presentation drawings, and make physical models for concept discussion and communication internally and externally.
The internship is a full-time paid position that lasts for 6 months. Maybe even longer if there is a good match between you and the studio.
Requirements
Pursuing a master’s degree of architecture or equivalent (minimum 3 years of education completed).
Strong conceptual design and graphic skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within the team as well as independently.
Proficiency in Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with physical model-making is beneficial.
Knowledge of Revit, Grasshopper, or AutoCAD is a plus.
