2023年5月18日，展览“UMBAU·改建，不间断转变” 在威尼斯绿色沙龙举办了开幕式。德国联邦住房、城市发展和建设部部长克拉拉·盖维茨（Klara Geywitz）和联邦建筑及区域规划局局长佩特拉·韦塞勒（Petra Wesseler）在开幕式上致辞。
On May 18, 2023, the exhibition UMBAU. Nonstop Transformation at Salone Verde in Venice was officially opened. To start, the German Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Building, Klara Geywitz, and the President of the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning, Petra Wesseler, spoke to the audience.

随后，此次展览的合作伙伴——威尼斯城市实验室（Venice Urban Lab）主席色尔爵·帕索洛（Sergio Pascolo）、gmp 创始合伙人福尔克温·玛格以及策展人施特凡·胥茨和尼古劳斯·格茨也分别发表了讲话。
This was followed up with speeches by Sergio Pascolo, President of the cooperation partner Venice Urban Lab, Volkwin Marg, Founding Partner of gmp, and Stephan Schütz and Nikolaus Goetze, curators of the exhibition.

上海美术学院院长曾成钢、上海美术学院副院长王海松、同济大学建筑城规学院院长李翔宁教授、同济大学建筑设计研究院有限公司总裁汤朔宁教授、ICCF之禾卡纷集团董事长叶寿增先生、筑境设计总建筑师薄宏涛先生等来自中国的重要嘉宾也受邀参观了展览。
Zeng Chenggang, Dean of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts Shanghai University, Wang Haisong, Vice Dean of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts Shanghai University, Professor Li Xiangning, Dean of Tongji University College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Professor Tang Shuoning, President of Tongji Architecture Desgin(Group) Co.,Ltd., Ye Shouzeng, Chairman of ICCF Group, Bo Hongtao, Chief Architect of CCTN Design and other important guests from China were also invited to visit the exhibition.

UMBAU·改建意味着建筑遗产的持续转型。随着社会的变迁，对建筑的要求也在发生变化。在这种持续变革的过程中，材料及建筑构件的回收再利用不但可以节省资源、避免废弃物的产生，还可以利用建筑遗产里存储的灰色能源。因此，在应对气候变化的形势下，UMBAU·改建作为一项古老的文化技术被赋予了新的时效性。
UMBAU (conversion) means the ongoing transformation of existing structures. Just as societies change, the requirements placed on buildings also change. In the context of this ongoing process of change, those who reuse and recycle materials and components save resources, avoid waste, and use the gray energy stored in existing buildings. Hence UMBAU, an ancient cultural technique, is gaining new relevance in the face of climate change.

过去四十多年来，gmp·冯·格康，玛格及合伙人建筑师事务所一直参与建筑改建工作。此次在威尼斯举办的展览从60多个改建项目中选出七个作为具体范例展示。
For over forty years, von Gerkan, Marg and Partners Architects (gmp) have been engaging in UMBAU. The exhibition in Venice presents seven of over sixty conversion projects as specific case studies.

这些来自德国和中国的公共建筑有代表性地体现了UMBAU·改建的建筑实践，即在全面研究的基础上开发出与建筑遗产相关的方案，并确保建筑的使用符合时代要求。从多样性上重新激活现有建筑始终是这一建筑实践的核心。
The compilation consists of public buildings in Germany and China that exemplify the architectural practice of UMBAU. From a comprehensive exploration, concepts are developed that are based on existing structures and ensure a contemporary use. At the core of this process is always the reactivation of what exists in all its diversity.

“UMBAU·改建，不间断的转变”通过已落成的、正在建设中的、以及还在规划中的项目来展示这些转变过程。展出的项目包括柏林奥林匹克体育场（原建于1936年，2004年完成改建）、德累斯顿文化宫（原建于1969年，2017年完成改建）、慕尼黑一座旧变电站（原建于1929年）的改建，该建筑在改建后成为了加斯泰格汉普8号伊萨尔爱乐音乐厅（2021年落成）的一部分、汉堡阿尔斯特游泳馆（原建于1973年，将于2023年完成改建）和马格德堡马鞍形混凝土屋顶建筑（原建于1969年，从2017年开始改建）。此外，还有由上海最大的不锈钢厂（原建于1986年）改建的上海美术学院（从2021年开始改建）以及位于柏林文化广场的柏林国立图书馆（原建于1978年，从2019年开始改建）。
UMBAU.Nonstop Transformation reveals these processes by taking both completed projects and those that are still in the planning phase or under construction as our basis. On display are the Berlin Olympic Stadium (completed 1936 / UMBAU 2004), the Kulturpalast Dresden (1969 / 2017), the transformation of a former transformer building in Munich (1929 / 2021) into part of the Isarphilharmonie at Gasteig HP8, concrete shell constructions like the Hyparschale in Magdeburg (1969 / 2024) and the Alster-Schwimmhalle in Hamburg (1973 / 2023). It also features the conversion of Shanghai's largest stainless steel factory (1986 / since 2021) into the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts and the Berlin State Library at the Kulturforum (1978 / since 2019).

展览追溯了这些建筑从原始形态到改建以及作为跨越几代人活动的持续变化的过程。大屏幕电影、模型、照片和图纸等多媒体形式将不间断转变中的各个阶段清晰地呈现出来，通过总体声音装置的配合，在绿色沙龙的展厅里营造了对UMBAU·改建的感官体验。
The exhibition traces processes of the continuous transformation of the buildings as an activity that spans generations, from the original to the UMBAU. With large-format films, models, photos, and plans, stations of this Nonstop Transformation are highlighted in multimedia and with an overarching sound installation that makes UMBAU a sensory experience in the spaces of Salone Verde.
