这座历史建筑的历史可以追溯到19世纪，是缅甸主要的英国出口商Steel Brothers的总部。如今，它已成为象征性的仰光怡东酒店。

这家精品酒店位于仰光的殖民遗产地，其整个图形和艺术元素都讲述了爱情，浪漫和悲情的故事。受到格雷厄姆·格林（Graham Greene）小说的启发，HBA为钢铁兄弟的仆人Sam和在缅甸寻找丈夫的英国女孩Veronica带来了一个鼓舞人心的故事。

Dated from the 19th century, this heritage building was the headquarters of the Steel Brothers, a major British exporter in Myanmar. Today it stands as the emblematic Yangon Excelsior.

This boutique hotel located in the colonial heritage site of Yangon, narrates throughout its graphic and art components a tale of love, romance and tragedy. Inspired by novels from George Orwell and Amitav Ghosh, HBA brings to life an inspiring story between Sam, the Steel Brother’s servant, and Veronica, the English girl searching for a husband in Burma. 

‘By imagining the past, and creating a tale, we not only bring the past back to life, but we frame it in the present. Much as the interior design has done, we wish to retain the essential fabric of the past, but give it a contemporary twist.’

二楼走廊和标牌细节 | Second Floor Corridor & Signage Detail

设计灵感源来自年轻的仰光夫妇，这对夫妇第一次在钢铁兄弟的办公室见面，酒店楼层的标牌使用古董打字机的字母键作为标识的元素。

Inspired by the young Yangon couple who meet for the first time in the Steel Brothers office; the hotel floor numbers signage consist of letter keys from the antique typewriters placed on a crafted wooden base. One can find them on each guestroom.

新闻室，壁画，标志和菜单细节 | The Newsroom, Wall Mural, Logo Sign & Menu Detail

新闻室编辑室是办公室的中心，每个人都聚集在一起进行日常的简报会，并准备相关的装运文件，将柚木和大米送到伦敦。而这个区域是酒店的全日餐厅，充斥着浪漫故事背景的氛围，是让旅客在此地放松身心的好地方。

这里是两个年轻恋人第一次见面的地方，主墙的壁画印刻着Veronica和Sam相遇时的情景，伴随着窗外仰光大金塔，映衬着那场浪漫的邂逅。 新闻室标志由报纸凸版印刷的木刻字母组成，与公司的内部期刊有关。

The Newsroom was the epicentre of the office where everyone gathered for the daily office briefings and prepared the pertaining shipment documents to send teak and rice to London. In the newly refurbished hotel, it is the excellent All-Day Dining Restaurant, a place to relax while living the tale.

Representing the place where the two young lovers met for the first time, the main wall’s mural illustrates Veronica and Sam in conversation with the Shwedagon Pagoda’s view through the window. The Newsroom logo sign made of woodblock letters for newspaper letterpress printing, relates to the company’s internal journal.

客房门和房间号码标牌细节 l Guestroom Door & Room Number Signage Detail

铝制客房门上的号码牌，采用的是手写的笔记。是故事中那对恋人，Veronica和Sam在房间门框上留下的手写便条。

The guestroom numbers printed on aluminum are hand-written notes that our lovers Veronica and Sam left for each other stuck in the door jamb of their rooms.

酒店信息概要和文具全都模仿了办公文具。仿旧的皮革文件夹，文具和艺术品在拼贴的图象中，讲述着那对恋人之间的故事，将男女主人公之间的恋情赋予了无尽的遐想，并呈现在酒店的细节之中。

The compendium and stationary mimic the office stationery. Resembling an old leather document folder and the stationery and artworks tell the lover’s tale in collaged images that combine the written story with imagined images of our hero and heroine.
