Annotation of garden, yard and house

    记得在刚学设计的时候总想给设计下一个定义 ，总是时不时的问自己什么是设计？其实这个问题对于我始终没有清晰过，随着不断的实践也是时而清晰时而模糊，每个阶段都会有不同的解释。记得做第一家雁舍餐厅的时候设计就是改变，第二家的时候设计就是温暖，第三家的时候设计就是院子。当然这里每一个概念都是对设计的一种狭义诠释。所以设计的概念应该不是唯一的，是随着认识改变而改变。如今雁舍又迎来了第四家店面“四季”我们再一次接受了“设计”的挑战。

I remembered that when I started to learn designing, I always wanted to give a definition of “designing”. I tried to ask myself “what is design”. In fact, I haven't got the final definition so far, since it has different explanation ineach stage. Like the keywords to the restaurant. The keyword of first restaurant is changing. When the second store was come, it was warmth. The third one focused on yard. Of course, every concept is a narrow interpretation of design. As a result, the idea of design should not be unique, it should be depended on the change of perception. Now, we are about to accept the forth challenge from Goose Hut Hunan Cuisine.

    雁舍四季坐落在北京中心城区的北京坊，这里有着得天独厚的地理位置和京味文化资源，南临大栅栏北临天安门广场，作为一个注重文化体验的餐饮品牌，一切的条件都非常的优越。那么如何定义这第四家店的设计概念，对于我们却是一个很难的事情。

As a restaurant brand that paying attentions to culture experience, all conditions around the restaurant are very superior. Then it comes to a really hard question that how to define  the forth store. 

    北京坊是有着深厚底蕴的商业街区，不同于以往的商业项目，它是把每个商业单元通过廊桥集合起来组成了一个颇具传统气质的现代商业区，就像是一个大的园林设计，所以游走在街区里的时候不会有喧闹的感觉，相反会有一种惬意的舒适感。雁舍四季能否与这个商业有一个融合这是我们必须要考虑的问题。

Beijingfun is a commercial block with deep heritage, which is different from common projects. Each of commercial units is connected by traditional gallery bridges. It is like a large garden. So when you walk into the block, you won't feel noisy. On the contrary, it is comfortable. Whether Goose Hut hunan cuisine can be integrated with this commercial district is something we must consider.

    根据现有餐厅的动线，一共有四个出入口，一个通往室外平台，一个通往地下车库，另外两个是其他商业的通道。如果按照常规思维设计一个主入口那就完全失掉了整个商业区的特点，所以我们更多的是考虑怎么与整个大环境融合？怎么从传统文化中寻找灵感，比如合院，连廊，园林.......

According to the existing pedestrian flow, there are four entrances and exits, one to the outdoor platform, one to underground garage, and the other two are facing other stores. If we design by using conventional idea, it will completely lose its characteristics of BeijingFun. Therefore, we spent more time thinking about how to integrate the restaurant with the environment and how to catch the inspiration from traditional culture, such as courtyards, gallery bridges, gardens and so on…

    经过反复的推敲我们找到了设计切入点，将园院宅植入到整个餐厅的设计当中，园是一个大的概念，再将房子住宅空间（包间区域）和两个院子（散台区域）融合到这个园林当中，那所有的通道就形成了若干婉转悠长的廊，这个一个很美妙的设想。当人们从若干个入口进入空间的时候，看到的它不是一个餐厅，仅仅是园的一部分，或宅，或林，或艺术或院子你看到的永远不是全部，当你游走在这个空间的时候找不到入口也找不到出口，当你偶遇一人的时候（服务员）便路转溪头忽见。后来餐厅开业客人越来越多，便有人反映找不到出入口甚至迷失方向，我心暗笑，难道迷失在一个美好的院子里这样不好吗？

Time and time again, we found the concept of designing and tried to create courtyards in the whole restaurant. The yard is the goal concept, and then we rebuilt the new spaces (rooms and compartments) in this garden. All the corridors formed by Chinese gallery bridges, which is a wonderful idea. When people enter the space from several entrances, they won't feel it like a restaurant, but only a part of the garden, could be a house, landscape, an art or a yard. You will never see the whole view when you walk into this space. With more guests coming to the restaurant and doubt that where is the entrance and exit. I think with a silent chuckle. Isn't it lovely to be lost in such a wonderful garden?
